Reliance may have HDTV Channels

Good news, atleast Reliance BigTV can bank on some new feature compared to existing DTH providers, also they can easily provide it as they are usin MPEG4 technology and there are few channels available providing HDTV content, so best luck for Reliance

Doesn't say which channels would be in HDTV. Anyway I'll believe it when I see it. I don't have much faith in Reliance sticking to deadlines, so I doubt that the service will even launch by the end of this year. But if it happens, that would be sweet. HD definitely is the way to go!! (I have been converted after playing ps3 at 1080p - too good).

Seems like they're doing overhead wiring. The junction boxes are in place and a huge main box or whatever (complete with cooling fans n all) was installed a couple of months back but since then work has stalled with many ppl objecting to their layin cables on their terraces in my neighbourhood....others are askin for anythin ranging from 10k to a cool lakh :p

So when will they launch the list of HD Channels and when will they launch their service?

Well there service will be lunched in 8 to 10 weeks. I just heard in CNBC tv.:) So must be on Diwali.:)

HD channels are still limited in numbers (HD - LyngSat HD), only Discovery, NGC, BBC, SKY & some american channels have begun transmission in HD, we can expect some of them, atleast Discovery for sure

Just the mere introduction of HD would be well appreciated!!! If this happens, hopefully TV showroom owners would have the sense to use these channels in their display models of LCDs / Plasmas (though most of them are dumb dukaandaars who don't really care too much to understand their product.

I think if the Indian customer could see HD in front of his eyes (and I refer to mainly rich folk in the metros) they would definitely go for a LCD + Reliance.
