Can't discontinue. BBM surely won't replace WhatsApp. There are a lot of friends and relatives using Symbian, Nokia E Series phones, Gingerbread, etc. which aren't supported by BBM but by WhatsApp. My mom uses a Symbian. Unless BBM comes to all of these platforms, it can't replace WhatsApp, not in India at least.BTW I guess BBM won't be available for Windows Phones too. And many friends use WPs.

I'll keep both. BBM for BB friends and those who want to use it. WhatsApp for everyone else.

My most BB friends have now ditched BBM. They prefer WhatsApp too. Don't think BBM will be much useful for me, but I'm still excited. :pThe only good thing is that I can now chat with some of my XDA, IBF and other Internet friends as I (and I'm sure many) don't prefer giving the phone number to people not known personally. Many Android and iOS friends will install BBM for sure, but I'll be interesting to see how many of them actually use it and don't just uninstall it within a month like WeChat, Line, Hike, etc.
