I have a D-Link 714P+ and am using 2 pcs and a laptop to connect to sify. PCs are wired and Laptop is wireless. You only need to clone the mac id and thats takes care of all. when the authentication happens sify checks for the WAN interface mac address.have you enabled dhcp or are using static ips?

Suraj, my machines are the same as yours: two wired desktops and one wireless laptop. The MAC ID is cloned in the WAN section of router settings.

DHCP server is enabled, and static DHCP is disabled. And I am using the static IP option, having filled in all the IP address, gateway options etc. (I couldn't get my connection to work at all without enabling the DHCP server; and yes, I have already looked at your wonderfully illustrated router configuration file, thanks for all that lucidly illustrated work).

And, Gaurav, Easy Sify doesn't seem to work on my machines: I have tired both version 1 and 2, without success. Version two gives me an "invalid session id" each time I try to connect.

Looking forward to some more brainstorming on this.

I cant imagine how Sify would allow that, this would just encourage misuse of other's account ie 2 or more people can use the same username password and buy a common package and use em all at the same time. I think if more than 1 instances of the same username appear on Sify's servers, one of them will be booted, but then again its Sify we are talking about hehe

Something weird: at the moment I seem to able to connect from all my computers, and that too without the Sify client! Looks like my only problem was that I was using sify's client ;-)Actually, looks like something is the matter somewhere. That could be because the Sify client didn't log you off proper, it happens all the time to me.

Lemaireus, once you are connected from one pc using the Sify client, you don't need to connect again from other pc's unless ofcourse you have logged off, i hope you are not using the client again for other pc's once you are logged on from any other one?

no we are sharing the connection here so only one username. i think its legal.

Suraj, you are right: I was actually using the client from the other machines as well, not realizing that it wasn't necessary to do so.

At the moment everything is running fine, with all the comps accessing the net via the router, but will check again tomorrow and post a word on this.

Well, uh, I'm a newbie myself and have recently signed up for Sify 256 connection in Pune. I was wondering if you knowledgable folk can lend a helping hand to a newcomer. I have connected the broadband cable into a host PC with 2 ethernet cards and through a switch have connected it to 2 other PCs. I'm using a Proxy server (AnalogX) for internet connection sharing but have been running into problems with multiple softwares (Outlook, VPN, SQL Plus etc). I was wondering if a Router is supported by SIFY, and from this discussion it seems it indeed can. Can you folks suggest what router is ideal and how to set it up?

Hello again
I downloaded the word document illustrating how to setup the Router and tried it with my new D-Link 604+. I connected the Sify Cat5 cable into the Router's WAN port. Then I set up the router's Static IP and PPPoE connections. Then I gave the router's output 1 into my PC. But whenever i try to connect using the Router's PPPoE it doesnt seem to connect. I read in the file that I still have to use the Sify Dialar. How do I do that when the Sify cable is connected directly to the router? Am I doing something wrong?
