Rx power decreases in BSNL FTTH

Hello all.
I am new to this forum.
The Rx power level in the ftth connection at my home decreased from -20dbm to -24.68dbm. Earlier it was constant at -20dbm. The ONT which I have has Rx sensitivity till -27dbm.
The Rx power levels are varying since then and I am worried internet will go down for me. I have checked the patch cord and the outdoor fiber cable. All are straight or coiled in circular fashion. Tried replugging the fiber into ONT. Nothing worked.
Can anyone suggest something ?

ONT - Khwahish KONT-1743

It can be due to your provider splitting your line for too many customers . I am running mine at -27 dBM and I have seen as worse as -31 dBM and it was working fine I guess. The circular fashion coiling should not be less than a certain radius(maybe 6cm or less) or else you can lose signal there.

Giving connections to more customers did come to my mind.
Regarding the coiling, the radius is much greater than 6cm so I think that is definitely not the issue.
May be they have provided more customers new connection.
Will observe for few days.
Thanks for the information.

The line power drops if connection is split too much considering the fact that it's a passive optical network and it's only a matter of how much connections can you split.

The LCOs sometimes go overboard with overloading capacity causing issues for everyone. But for your case, if you are in 100Mbps or lesser plan, there is hardly any reason to be concerned. As the other guy has said, the modem should work even after -27dbm till -30 dbm but if it breaches the -27 mark then please bring this up with LCO.

that was some technical Info I needed. Thanks a ton man. Currently I am on 60Mbps fiber basic plus plan and I was actually thinking to go for higher plans. Now that you have guided me on the Rx power, I will get it fixed by LCO (which is basically pleading) before opting for plans above 100Mbps.
Although it looks highly unlikely that they will even bother about my concern unless internet dies.

Sometimes it happens, Happened with me twice, lco guy said cable stretched because of some reason nearby my house. They fixed it in few hours. My local lco is very chill. Now rx power is -14dB

you are lucky to have good service.
In my case I have told my TIP/LCO about Rx level. He said he will have it checked. That's it.
But as others stated, it may be due to splitting of the line for other new customers. Till the time its working, I am gonna stop wondering about it.

Last week I got bsnl ftth through LCO , during installation the LCO guy checked the line and put a knot at yellow cable which is connected to the ont, my tx was around 1.86db and rx around -17 db , today I loosened the knot to see whether I get any improvement surprisingly rx increased to -8 db and tx value same at 1.86 db, I still can't understand why that cable guy put a knot on that cable , rx at around -8 db is great ? Pls clarify

At some level a higher power optical signal can damage the ONT - maybe that's why your LCO put a knot in the patch cord?
