Rx power decreases in BSNL FTTH

ONTs have sensitivity levels right ? A particular range outside which it doesn't register the signal ?
There are videos on YouTube where the creator himself is an LCO of BSNL and the Rx levels were -7dBm, so I guess -8dBm is fine.
I will check and post that video.

Last week I got bsnl ftth through LCO , during installation the LCO guy checked the line and put a knot at yellow cable which is connected to the ont, my tx was around 1.86db and rx around -17 db , today I loosened the knot to see whether I get any improvement surprisingly rx increased to -8 db and tx value same at 1.86 db, I still can't understand why that cable guy put a knot on that cable , rx at around -8 db is great ? He must have put it near that box where the main fiber is spliced, and the yellow patch cord begins, right?

Maybe because he's used to the ADSL ways, so as to prevent accidental pullouts? 😂

I'm on the 300mbps plan and my rx is around -26
