there lies the problem. it is not about the brand. it is all about the class type which defines how fast it is. get the 16GB version and spend a bit more on a higher class sd card and it should all be well.

why? Dropbox has 5GB of free cloud storage. it is good enough for backing up photos and videos automatically. and you can always move it to your desktop. which is what i do.
every photo and video i take from the phone is synced to desktop and dropbox automatically. and then i move it to google drive. i can basically reset my phone at any time, the only thing i would lose is sms.
not really. higher 'class' cards have higher write speeds at the cost of higher random access times as well. and you wouldn't normally need higher write speeds on a phone unless you are recording 1080p video or transferring a large amount of files. class 4 or 6 is best suited for phones.
