If this sells for above 40k range, then I guess it is better to get an iPhone since many used to complain about its price tag.

Good luck to HTC if Samsung indeed launches it with a MRP below Rs. 40,000.
Yup. And Apple's strong marketing campaign will also face lot of problems at this price. S3 was already much more successful the 4S. Now S4, if aggressively priced under 40k then with their ingenuous marketing, Samsung will clinch most of the high end market share in India.
But there's one more thing. Still not able to find a reason why Samsung will keep price under 40k? With this hardware, it should be quite tough to maintain thick margins.

lol. samsung manufacture like 80% of the hardware that goes into their phones. and of course you would have read the reports about bill of material of various smartphone models. i doubt these phones cost anywhere near 30K in manufacturing costs.

Yes. The production costs are around 20-25K a pop. But what I think is that there is no need. Samsung's already itself deep into Indian smartphone market, which HTC, Sony & Apple lack. Even if they price S4 at 45k, there will be lot of people who will opt for S4, not the iPhone 5, One or Z.
Analysts are right. This might be the phone which is already a mega hit even before it's shipping.

Nope. If they price it on the same levels as the iPhone 5, they lose a very significant market to people who care about the brand. I am sure the number of folks who bought the Butterfly is going to be very insignificant here in India. Yes, Samsung would do better than HTC but still. For a lot of consumers the different between 35K and 45K is huge enough to go for the cheaper offering.

Hmm you might be right. BTW 35k? Really? You have unusual expectations from Samsung. :D
I am sure it won't be low as 35k. Otherwise it would disrupt the market.

Not at launch time of course. But in a couple of months or through special offers and deals. Most sales in India happen once the device has been available in the market for a couple of weeks/months. Only the fanatics go for a brand new model just days after launch. :)
What I meant was that for a general customer, lure of buying the iPhone 5 would be too much if the price difference is negligible. I would find it hard to justify asking someone to buy S4 instead of iPhone5 if the prices are in the same range.

This is from Samsung's Facebook page. I am not sure but the phone in the image looks rather weird. The aspect ratio is pretty messed up.
