Samsung really doesn't have any maneuverability around these core specs for the SIV. The problem is this time, HTC and Sony have already launched similar spec'ced phones before them.

That design feels depressing now and nature UX, that blue chrome in menus, well what to say. It's unfortunate that for most of people, others decide what to buy.

I don't think any app currently out there will take advantage of 8 cores or even android 4.2.2 is optimized for it

Out of the 8 cores, 4 are low power A7 cores and 4 are high power A15 based cores, so if you are using it for tasks like playing music, video etc. only the low power cores would be utilized leading to better battery life than the current Samsung phones, plus you would have the other 4 for power if needed in games etc.
