How many people use a search engine to know the weather conditions buddy? MS is now conducting a survey on their website about these search engines and I'm sure that Google will be the winner.

well the thing is... people like to get answers quickly. and if the search result page can show them the answer, they would not be required to go through search result pages and click on several of them to find the answer.

for example... if i have to find the value of USD 1 in INR today. I used to go XE.com earlier. Now, I just type 1 usd in inr - Google Search and i get the answer directly.

wolframalpha is one search engine that removes the need to go through multiple pages to get specific to the point information. google and bing are not there yet. :)

----------

another cool example...

i want to check out details on terminator 2 the movie...

terminator 2 - Wolfram|Alpha is perfect for me...

in case of bing and google, i would probably have to click on imdb or wikipedia page to get the relevant information...

these new kind of search technologies are bad for web publishers as their content is parsed and presented by search engines on their own website :(

The home page of Bing looks nice...

But the results are not displayed in the best of ways... Google shows the results in a better way...
And I think it will take some time for a dial up internet user to load the home page of Bing whereas google's home page can be loaded very easily. But bing offers some good services.

bing does not load that image immediately. it takes its own time. if you are on a slow connection, you would probably never see the image loading in the background.even on my 512kbps connection i end up on the result page before that background image starts loading :)btw, the image concept is from the live search days.
