yeap. WA excels at stuff where other search engines would just struggle and give useless junk :)it is not even a search engine considering you do not get links to third party sites. you just get a computer result with links to sources. :D

Btw is its realname WolframAlpha or just Wolfram and Alpha indicates early stage?Because domain name and logo is continuous WolframAlpha but title of page has PIPE (|) sign in between.

well that is somewhat confusing too.the product is definitely in alpha/beta testing...the main brain behind the project is a PhD dude with the surname wolfram... i doubt they would change the name to wolframbeta.com once it is more refined :D or maybe they will :D

Wolfram Research: Mathematica, Technical and Scientific Software cool it exists! i had no idea :D

----------

Wolfram|Alpha is a major software engineering development to make all systematic knowledge immediately computable by anyone. It is developed and deployed entirely with Mathematica—in fact, Mathematica has uniquely made Wolfram|Alpha possible.

----------

Stephen Wolfram - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia the dude behind the wolframalpha engine.

damn, the name is too complicated for regular usage :) something that is avoided by all popular sites.

----------

i still cannot find out their revenue model. who is financing the whole project. running a project like this would require lots of money :D

----------

this is the example from the wikipedia article of the service...

What is the fifty-second smallest country by GDP per capita? - Wolfram|Alpha

it is pretty capable :D

Stephen Wolfram is a genius . He published an article on particle physics at the age of 16 and later created mathematica , its a pretty awesome tool if you know how to use it , i too would be interested in knowing who is financing this , because the server has to carry out computations for each input , if it becomes even half as popular as google they would require mind numbingly powerful servers

actually name google was bit ODD too but now everyone knows it, so is wolfram.only problem is wolfram is tongue twister word and not easy to remember (google was close to googly so cud be remembered easily)

heh. google is easy to speak as well. try speaking google and then try speaking wolframalpha... google can be spoken with minimal effort. wolfram takes too much effort (yeah i am a lazy bum when it comes to speaking... i type more in a day compared to speaking).
