Setting the G-2425G-A ONT to bridge mode

I am a customer of BSNL in Kerala where they have shitty ONTs as well, but they have the common sense to let people use whatever router they want by letting them use bridge mode, so recently I moved to chennai and have an apartment where the usual suspects (ACT, Jio Fiber, Hathway) is not available yet since it's a relatively new building. The only option I had was Tata Play Fiber, I've never really used them but their prices seemed good and I didn't see any negative reviews.

The issue I'm facing now is the fact that their router is almost entirely locked down with the default userAdmin credentials, I have a pretty beefy router that I would like to use but without the bridge mode I would be stuck with setting up my good router as a DHCP client.

Another issue that I'm seeing is that I paid for a static IPv4 address and I'm still seeing a CNGAT IP on the WAN side, not really sure what's up there but solving this bridge mode issue is the first concern right now.

I got through to their customer service rep's (4 of them I think, one of them was a field tech), one of them told me that the technical team would contact me, one of them told me it's simply not possible to use another router with their services, when I pushed him a bit he told me the field tech would know and the field tech said the same thing that I can't use bridge mode but told he too isn't sure so he'll escalate it to someone else, I feel like they'll get back to me with an answer but it'll be kinda cool to know if any of you got your own routers to work with Tata Play Fiber

You will get a static IPv6 not v4, v4 is CGNAT address while the v6 is a public IP. Yes, you can use your own router after TPF backend switches the ONT to bridge mode.

Interesting haha, I thought I would be paying for a static IPv4 but it's all good for my purposes IPv6 itself is more than enough. I wish they'd made it clear though that it was not static IPv4 plus as you said they've gotten back to me after a couple of hours letting me know that there's nothing for me to do except for them to make some changes on their side

try logging in using admin as username and last 8 digits of your mac address as password, you will be able to configure bridge mode on your own. All settings are unlocked when you login using the same.

@rajat_ that's awesome! It worked perfectly I was able to do whatever I wanted to with the Nokia ONT now, I wonder if they did anything at all on "their side"

@Chip When I enquired about the Static IP, they told me it was IPv4 itself (that I'm paying for) and I guess again activated something on their end and I am able to get it on my box now

Tata doesn't provide static IPv4. Their IPv4 is behind CG-NAT. Only a public IPv6 is provided

I'm pretty sure they do, I got an IP in the public range (210.x.x.x/32) I had 100.x.x.x/30 or something yesterday

Static v4? Wow, that's news to me. Please check with them, that /32 is suspect because I have a /24 from Airtel. Best way to find out is to use Google ..'what's my ip'?

Could you elaborate? I have some VPS's with a /64 IPv6 and a /32 IPv4 both "true" public

I don't think they will handout anything larger than a /32, regardless using google to see my own IP is not a good idea since it will always show a public IPv4/IPv6 because the CGNAT address at somepoint has to be rewritten/masqueraded into a proper public IP. I usually just check on my router to see if it's in the 100.x or the usual RFC1918 private IP range (which it isn't right now), plus I'm able to actually access the router from outside now (from an external server) so it's undeniably public IPv4.

A /32 public IPv4 is not that uncommon in TN/Kerala I suppose, I was offered the same by ACT, Hathway and Tata Sky (and probably BSNL too)
