well that usually means that you do have dhcp enabled.. i have a vonage unit too.. i didnt require to change any setting for it to work here.. it was something like plug and play.. you havent confirmed if you are in ppoe mode.. do you require to use a dialer to connect to the internet in windows or does the internet work as soon as you switch on your modem??.. there is a no. you type using vonage to find out if your vonage unit got an ip or not.. im unable to find that no right now.. it should be there in the manual..

Please can anyone help me out.

Confirm you get connected to Internet with the modem( mention make)
on "Always On " mode.
2. Confirm you have a U.S.Number
and can access the Unit
at 192.168.15.1 with user Vonage Id and password.

Once you get connected computer not needed.http://www.vonage.com/downloads/Vonage_Easy_Setup_Guide_VPORTAL.pdf

Hi Essebee and superprakash, thanks for ur help. My vonage is now connected, though internet does get disconnected from time to time (but at least it works !!!!) Though tragedy is now my AT and T phone is causing problem :wall: If I lift the receiver or press any button the screen goes blank and says "check AC power" and gets disconnected. Guess U guys cant help in this, but luckily the speaker is working and I am able to make calls by dialing thru vonage and switching the speaker of phone on...hurray at least sth works (causing a lot of disturbance to people around me though). Once again thanks a lot essebee without u I cud never have spoken to my husband

Glad to have assisted in getting Vonage working.

Please mention your modem make and model.
If you can access the modem pages as suggested by
@superprash 2003 look for ADSL menu item.
We are interested in SNR ATTN and Mod selected.
Example: http://i5.tinypic.com/6pjjhpz.jpg

Connect any ordinary phone (Tone ) and test.
Power adaptor , if it gets hot ( probably 117V AC to 9V DC)
check the stepdown transformer used for this,
Or buy a new 230VAC to 9VDC (?) 500ma unit

Take the present Imported adapter to shop to check the polarity of connector to telephone ( Inner Positive outer negative ?)

Thanks so much to essbebe and superprash2003 for your valuable advice. And im sorry that i couldnt update as My Wife was away from my HomeTown in india and we just did exactly what you wanted to do today and hurray all set.:thumb: Now to fix the problem we updated our XP with Service Pack3 and then we changed the settings from dhcp to ppoe using the v-configure.com. Once again thanks for your advice-you guys rock

@boston.indianThanks very much for the feedback. We are interested in the feedback, whether suggestions worked or not.Your input will help us to fine tune future posts. It is now more than six months, since my Vonage was installed. No problem/s and there was an automatic update."As long as something works Don't repair it !"trying to improve etc.Para two:Suggestion. If you want to remote Control/access the computer in INDIAto check settings try Logmein or similar applications. Then you can access the modem/router settings and make a backup in Hard disk or as screen shots. Please open new thread on this subject.
