Yes But you need WiFI to use laptop in mobile mode.

@essebebanl people saying type 2 modem is 1950i have type 1 modem @ out rate purchasethey saying i cant exchange ithow many laptops i can use at same time with type two modem using wifii'm dumb at wifi please helpa wifi means 802.11 a or 802.11 b or 802.11g?

hi everybody,my first post here.i have this same type 4 modem ,on ethernet it works good.my problem is like thisthe dsl (amber) light blinks very often and connection is not stable.what can i do for it?otherthan that i am yet to go online over wifi.i can see ssid and all but i dont know how do i connect to internet.i am on vista home premium and it says access is local only.please guide me in this.do i need to change my router?

hey coolbuddyin, if you need a wireless network then go for a wireless router... Netgear is good and economical!!hey neodoc,i think the reason for your unstable connection is cause of ur telephone setting.. make sure that the tel cable from the pole goes directly to your splitter.. do not keep any telephones in between.. connect all your telephones after the splitter.. this will make your connection more stable.. as telephones in between may cause intereference..about the wireless part.. just enter the SSID name..SSID name is nothing but a network name,nothing else... WEP is like a password.. do keep a password for security!!

Better buy a Netgear WIfI router and use it along with BSNL Type 1 modem.

Any number of laptops within the Wireless range can be used .( all must have Wireless lan adapter fitted) say upto a radius of 30 to 50 meters (*conditions apply!)
wifi means 802.11 a or 802.11 b or 802.11g?
802.11g is normally used here. ( different standards I think 11N is latest )

hi,thanks for reply.i have rewired whole connection directly as told.now wi fi also working.only after doing setup for wi fi.,i have seen that in the setup process,my router has firewall as well as nat enabled.now my torrents are getting hampered.now the ports which used to be open are blocked.how do i go about port forwarding in router?do i need that routers firewall and nat server enabled?kindly guide me.

login to your router(192.168.1.1 username and password is admin).. then look for a setting called virtual server
