I have windows vista and in my network & sharing centre my network is set to private, also my firewall is disabled(and in sharing & discovery it says file sharing is enabled).I have mcafae anti security suite and its firewall is enabled, but to stop file sharing i have to enable my windows firewall.so what should i do.

If you are not using a wireless network, there is no need really to make it private. Also, keep the firewalls on and use exceptions as needed.

if you are connecting to your home network then set it to private.when you are connecting to public networks outside(like when your travelling with your laptop) then you need to set it to public.Security settings are configured automatically based on what you choose.and as mentioned earlier leave your firewall on.
