Sify Broadband Sucks

i am not a tech head. but :P well who knows, their is a solution for everything. combining multiple sources of net to generate a single line of fast net should be technical possible using software or hardware :)

yeah. it is possible. My friend who happens to live in gurgaon has 2x128K lines and he has sucessfully load balanced them!

i wanted to do that. just could not. linux has inbuilt command for doing something similar. windows has an application wingate which makes it simpler i guess.

If I remember it correctly Wi-Fi is allowed within private premises in India only as per laws as of yet, and Wi-Fi has a range of 100 metres (which could be extended by some factors by using repeating antennas I guess). So how would you roll this out in Delhi ?

Well definitely. I don't plan on going beyond my locality, if I do, then Wi Max would the option as that has a bigger radius. Besides, if one of our crappy ISPs are down we can still use other's internet connection. Sharing is fun :). lol.

Duh! There will always be prerequisites to this. I won't be sharing on limited otherwise what benefit would that be to me.

Ryan, then its currently NOT feasible lest everyone has Airtel Unlimited connections ;)

Not necessarily Airtel ;). It's not available in my area. However, people could use hotwire, hathway, tata, and others. They give 'pure' unlimited. I've never done a setup like that before, but imagine the speeds you can get, with all that unlimited, at least 128kbps and 10 people.. Nice speeds. :D
