Asterix, no. 1000 for 256K UL will not be attractive. 250 for 256K UL will be attractive! People in foriegn countries get 5-8Mbps for about Rs.1200!!! No caps whatsoever!

Whoa! did you change your plan? if so, how? (online?)
And i think the new plan changes from the next month(i.e. the next billing cycle...)

No they don't change plan online. U have to go to their office and fill up a form there. I filled the form and they changed the plan . I paid the last month extra usage and within 3-4 hrs my plan changes to 256 unlimted. It is showing this in my account area. I confirmed from the cc also if it is safe to use ulimited net now and he told tht yes u can use it without any prob now . Now my bill from now on will be based on unlimited one :D

You can't compare India with rich countries when it comes to infrastructure. India is a long way from providing even such basics as reliable 24/7 electricity. In the general context of Indian infrastructure and especially broadband, I think 256 UL for 1000 will definitely be a landmark if it can be provided reliably and all across India. Of course in a few years we can hope for better speeds at the same price. Incidentally I don't you will see any unlimited plans for under 300 even if prices come down. Providers will probably lower prices by providing better speeds at the Rs. 500 and Rs.1000 level.

I just got my router today. Now many sites r showing "Page cannot be displayed" or they load very slow and images don't show up. But some time all work like a charm. Is there any issue with router settings? Any idea what will be the optimal router settings ?

MTNL/BSNL might have taken a right step by giving boradband at 200 Rs. :D Hopefully they will apply a more sensible limit then 400 MB
