My Sharp inverter AC has a bad leak in the cooling coil. So it's time to get a new one. Many users have mentioned that Voltas is a good buy considering the 5 years warranty. Kindly suggest some models?

Solution

Looks like they have changed the extended warranty thing. Now you need to pay 2990 for it, however you get 10 services as well (I think?) so still a good deal

my parents have used Samsung, LG, Daikin, Sharp, Hitachi split acs at different points of time. None of them lasted more than 4-5 years. I guess it might be area specific as well since the issue almost always was gas leakage

Voltas and Carrier have both worked fine
Had to contact FedEx directly and they delivered it within an hour or so. The clowns sitting at Tata Cliq are there to read terms and conditions and that's all.

The boxes seem fine. No sign of physical damage. Manufacturing is of February 2021. Rated ISEER on the box, 4.51.

@ijsa I have purchased via the BSES scheme this year as well. The process is pretty straightforward and totally online, atleast for BSES Rajdhani.
EDIT : Just checked for BSES Yamuna, the process appears to be the same. This link can be used to login and then fill the details.
There website is not working and Division Office do not have any clue.... but the worst is customer care, they disconnect the call when they see that they are not able to mislead...
Anyway, got Daikin 1.5T 3* Window from open market @27,700.00.

@Samuel may be...I don't know. I did read that in case of gas leak within 10 years, LG would refill it free of cost. Labor and other charges le le ke kitna hi lenge, not more than 5k. That is still a better proposition than having to refill gas in my old ac on a yearly/quarterly/monthly basis.
@dj2006 don't recall where I read but it is for sure. That was one of the factor for swinging the deal in favour of LG in my case.

AC got installed today itself. Call me crazy but my 8 years old Sharp AC used to work better than this. 16 degrees meant 16 degrees. In Voltas (the model I have), it works best if we keep the temperature around 24. It struggles below that or maybe I need to give it some time? I've used it for about 4 hours now.

I'm not disappointed. I'm aware that if I wanted performance like Sharp, I should have gone with Daikin. I'm happy with the purchase. Let's see how it performs over time. Also, the build quality is pretty cheap. Low quality plastic. And Sharp's outdoor unit was QUITE heavier.

P.s The cost of copper pipe is Rs. 750 per meter.

Thanks @manu1991 for the suggestion.

Honestly, it has been so hot around here that I keep my AC at 26C because my AC basically becomes useless if I keep it at lowest temperature setting. It struggles to cool at all. It works wonderfully with temperature setting between 24-26.

I also run it in dry mode if it is not unbearably hot. No longer have to worry about temperature or anything.

Guys AC should cool at 25 degree. If not then get gas checked. My LG ac was not cooling properly at even 18 degree. Turns out gas was half. Moreover I bought a new 2 ton lg ac with r32 gas for the drawing room replacing my old sharp one. This new ac cools so much. The guy showed 12 degrees when he installed it. R32 gas ac are super chill

The installation guys didn't fill gas. They said that the unit already has gas and they just need to connect everything and open the knob of the outdoor unit and the gas will start following. Is this normal?
