Solved: Split AC 1.5 ton | Voltas

My Sharp inverter AC has a bad leak in the cooling coil. So it's time to get a new one. Many users have mentioned that Voltas is a good buy considering the 5 years warranty. Kindly suggest some models?

Does the AC emit a smell when it's simply blowing air but not cooling?

For example at temperatures such as 28-30 degrees.

Could be as the AC is new... I have noticed it too when the ac was new, but it went away after sometime.
Or it could be fungus/mould if you switch off the AC without allowing the coolant pipes to dry.

Not sure if it will work with Voltas, but for my last AC I was able to replace the filter with N95 ones from 3M. That did improve air quality slightly

How do we allow coolant pipes to dry? By letting it run on the fan mode?

Yup. Thats what I do. Once I'm done using the AC I move it to fan only mode and let it run for a few minutes.
Same for car AC too

Stupid of me to do that while driving, but not doing it at home.

Not while driving xD. Usually say when I'm about to reach home (about 2 mins away) and ac has been running quite a while. I just move it fan only for the remaining 2 minutes.
May be slightly bothersome but I have got into the habit of doing it.

Yeah, that's what I do. I turn off the AC when I am about a few minutes from the destination.

It's actually a healthy habit, not only for the AC, but for us as well.

is it important to dry off the coolant pipe? I have never done it with my ac's. how frequently should I be doing it?

I think it's wise to run the AC on dry/fan mode once in a while. I can already see the difference.
