Thank you both for replying, I had some workload so wasn't able to check before. Will be getting the connection in early december as they are still working nearby poles everyday.

Two more questions, if you have noticed any traffic shaping ie, some sites may be intentionally slowed down, or internationally peering poor etc? I know about the blocking of sites, thats not an issue. And in case you ever needed to contact them for things like cable cut, do you do via Jio's customer care or directly to local guys?

I haven't seen any intentional traffic shaping to websites as such but yeah different international location show different performance.

For me international peering performance is usually in this order: Europe > SEA > NA ( deviation from average expected values not that much in absolute terms as such)

I call customer care directly for any issues as that resolves the fastest. Apps are always slower in my experience for any issue (in general not just jio fiber)

Local guys I have tried but they do tend to rotate a little and might be busy setting up for any other location. It's a handy backup in case customer care fails as they can send somebody else who is free at the moment.

Change DNS to Alternate DNS, Cloudfare or Open NIC from your ONT settings.

For better torrenting, VPN and remote settings I switched on IPSec, UPnP and few firewall settings in case they are turned off by default.

Lastly I use a goodbye DPI on Level 3 settings but with my own DNS Server Address and the Russian ones by default for any other issues.

I would personally say that for performance improvement POV for a normal user DNS change to one of the above I mentioned on Jio Fiber makes a drastic difference. Jio's DNS is not laggy in ping/distnace terms but the inspection they do for blocking sites, cheap routing etc sacrifices a lot of the speed feel that the fiber connection can provide

I am not getting any range whatsoever on the 2.4 ghz band even on the room just above. I am still in the trial period of Jio Fiber. Should I go for airtel fiber? Does it have better range?

the router/ONT for both airtel and jio is the same i.e sercomm but you get 10% extra with airtel so if you have the option please go for airtel

Before jumping first try to increase band size frequency in the settings to max possible in the ONT settings. It helps sometimes.

Login @ 192.168.29.1 -> Search Bar Top Left -? Search "NetworK" -> Scroll Down and Select "Network-Basic Configuration-2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz" based on requirement.

Change channel spacing to highest values.

Maximum Transmit Power = 100%

Channel -> Change it to some other values from whatever is loaded by default.

Similar for btoh 2.4 Ghz and 5 Ghz values.

Then see if any positive changes occur.

I faced the same problem of not having network reaching every corner of the house on the same floor. Now I even get a faint signal 2 floors down.
