Speed drops while viewing Youtube

no checked with both FF 4 RC and chrome 10 , both drop speed .. is there a way to run any diagnostic to check if there is throttling at bsnl server end ?

Speed plunges to nearly to < 200 Kbps while watching youtube.. I am on 512kbos UL 750 plan , and tried both on FF 4 RC and chrome 10 any suggestions ? - Personally IBF is becoming annoying everyday .. i typed a full post and it showed only first 3 words .. had to re-edit this post again ...
Install DU Meter & check your internet speed while watching youtube videos.
Though i get only 850 kbps during my night booster i can watch all 360p without buffering(50 mb - 70 mb). Above 70 mb file it buffers for few times.

Since we live in an IT super power where strangely enough broadband is not available the only solution to this annoying problem is:

1) Get Firefox
2) Get a good video downloader addon (I'd recommend Flash Video Downloader : Flash Video Downloader » Downloads flash video from Google, Metacafe, Daylimotion and other video sharing websites)

Ideally you would do the following:
1) Open firefox, go to the video link
2) Click download, a new tab opens (copy this link)
3) Close firefox
4) Open firefox, type in the link you just copied

Speedbitvideo acc. is useless, actually what it does is, not buffer the video simultaneously, but buffers 10sec at once, then allow to play, sooo, its the same thing, moreover. evry product of speedbit is trash.
Use idm. it's Awesome!!!

You are right. Speedbit is of no use. Tested it on my 512 kbps connection on 360p.

Speedbit doesnt do anything useful tbh. Just download the youtube file (copy the fully loaded file from the browser cache or use a flash video downloader utility/browser addon).

Using a good proxy in the browser works fine most of the time for me. Especially if a local(Indian) proxy is used !

Just curious to know, how will it help ?

On my bsnl connection, Home Rural 500(256kbps post FUP) especially in the evening many a times while viewing Youtube speed always fluctuates 50-250 kbps, but for some strange reasons when i use some Bsnl/other proxy which have good speeds, the videos buffers at a nearly constant rate with little variation in the range of 200-270 kbps giving some relief
