I was channel surfing a while back and found that star sports 2 was available on channel 404. But the funny thing was that there was no picture only audio was present. Old Wimbledon matches were on but the screen was blank. I could hear the sound. Maybe the testing phase isn't over yet.

I guess I found the reason for the problem you were facing. Tata Sky adds Star Sports 2; could signal a shift to MPEG4 compression tech
On the channel package page on their website, Tata Sky have clearly mentioned that Star Sports 2 will only be available to subscribers who are using the MPEG4 compatible set top boxes.
This might be the reason.

Is it only me or does the audio on that channel sound mono instead of stereo.

FYI - This channel is telecasted in MPEG 4 - So some may not be able to see this channel whose STB is only MPEG 2 compatible...

I have 1 hd stb and 2 sd stb's. This channel is visible on all 3 tv's. And the 2 sd stb's are at least 5 to 6 years old. So I don't think it is a question of MPEG2 or MPEG4.

It seems now they have changed this channel to MPEG 2...
TS has also mentioned in their web site that SS 2 is available only in MPEG 4 STB...but now they have removed....
