Anybody using HDFC Preferred or Imperia with eligibility based on salary credits? My employer does not have a direct tie up with HDFC for salary accounts but does not stop one from using the bank of their choice for salary credits. On the HDFC website, eligibility shows salary credits above a certain threshold as an eligibility criteria for Preferred and/or Imperia. I don't want to maintain MAB or FDs. So just thinking, whether I'd be able to upgrade to Preferred or Imperia based on salary credits to an HDFC account not specifically tagged as "Salary Account".

For instance IDFC doesn't care from where the credits are coming as long as credits above the threshold happen every month, same with few other banks.

I have preferred normal savings account upgraded from gold speciale account it's good no extra charges free debit card with 1% cashback on cc payment, free imps, free sms banking etc

@minuteman Do you still need to maintain an MAB?

Also, the 1% cashback is interesting. Does it work for all card payments or does it need to be made through any HDFC bank portal itself?

HDFC savings max account with 25K MAB provides similar features as preferred accounts like free platinum dc with 1% cashback, free transfers, free alerts..

I am struggling to update my email. Firstly, It is a complicated process. You have to go to the bank. Click a link sent to your email, verify the OTP on phone and do the biometric. Then few days later they simply deny the request without providing any reason. I have tried twice now.

@hariselio Yes, I have submitted a request to upgrade to Savings Max for now. My end goal is to get an Infinia CC, thought it would be easier if I am under Preferred or Imperia programme.

@minuteman Yep, in my case my employer and HDFC has no tie up, would that be an issue to get the account categorised as a Salary Preferred account?
