Hello,

I need to buy new AC for 190 sqft room top floor (sun directly hits the roof). So I know I need at least 2 Ton, but confusion is many people says that few brands 1.5 Ton AC's cooling is equivalent to 2 Ton in the other. So which brand I need and what tonnage?

A bit history on why I want new AC.
My first AC was 1.5 ton Voltas non inverter, It ran good the first year but cooling reduced from next year.
Many technicians have visited only to tell me that my AC is running perfectly. God knows what happened. But it won't chill the room as it used to do before and the compressor continues to run and room temp goes down but very slow. After so many diagnostics I came to a conclusion that because the unit was not vacuumed at install time, it's cooling efficiency was reduced but all technicians deny this fact. But I don't want to waste anymore time and money on this, I would rather buy new. My current AC already 5 years old now but this problem started happening since 2020, I bought it in 2019. In a nutshell I want to avoid this voltas brand all together.

Back to where we were, this post is about which brand's AC is must buy and what tonnage do I need 1.5 or 2 and it's cooling capacity, I want non inverter only.

Regards!

But installation should be done according to manufacturer's instructions, and vacuuming is crucial part of it. It maybe fine for R22 systems but for R32/R410A it is extremely important because the gas pressure is too high, if air is mixed with gas, then it may lead to dangerous consequences.

Yeah it should be done but even the company official installation guys are not trained properly or are just plain lazy and very few people will know the proper process.

Installation charges are too high and there is always some extra charges. On top of it now customer needs to learn about installation process to instruct the installation guys. Even then many of them will be reluctant dismissing your concerns, if you are not at home during installation then forget about it.

So a lot of installations happens without proper process.

In my case, whatever damage "not vacuuming at installation could do" has already been done. Now even so I vacuumed this machine, it won't make any difference because the damage is irreversible.

I wanted to confirm one last time, for my 200 sqft room (direct sunlight on rooftop), I will choose from Japanese brands, preferably o general 1.5 Ton. Will this be too small for this room? Because this is the only capacity I can afford from o general, or should I opt for different brand 2 Ton instead. I will need it work for 10+ years or so.

Guys, I gave my old ac to someone. According to them it was working perfectly, just that my room was too big. I know for a fact that it has lost it's cooling capacity by a lot otherwise the same used to chill my room in extreme summers. Anyway, now the main hunt begins!

Either o general 1.5 ton which I fear might be too small for the room, or a proper 2 ton from Hitachi because that seems affordable, but I'm seeing too many complaints from customers. Even the technician guy told me to avoid it. Last leaves me with two options, either Panasonic or Daikin which I have no idea about. Their 2 ton is actually 1.8 ton according to the cooling capacity they offer.

As mentioned earlier, your room apart from the size has additional heat source (the sun). Hence you would be better off with additional 0.5 T than what the room size determine.
I believe Daikin is good. @Sushubh has good reviews on Daikin. If you can manage, O'general, MHE are also some good options.

Now that you mention it, o general and Mitsubishi, even if their ac's are durable they hardly have any service presence in India. How does an owner get it repaired in case if something isn't right? or does one has to rely on third party (the local technician)?. While I know for a fact LG has the most serviceable network.

@Tejas01 Thanks again, I will not buy 1.5T, but I've heard there's 1.8T from o general which just might be what I need (it is equivalent to most 2Ton's from other brands).

Whoever I ask about Daikin they say the outdoor is too noisy. So I guess this is a common issue with this brand.

I also wanted to ask, how to identify heavy duty machine? most brands are using this term these days, there's haier's hexa inverter heavy duty, bluestar heavy duty, o general, Panasonic, these are the ones that shows commercials during IPL breaks.

Lastly I've heard Hitachi is not the same as it once was years back after they sold off it's ac business to Johnson.
