I found this information from a Sun Direct Dealer.

Sun Direct is now Signing up Dealerships with Dealers.
And of that dealer gave me that information.

how can they limit only to southern regional channels?if they want to capture large market?Surely they will come with all Sony , Zee , Star , Neo Channels and also with Southern reginal Channels.

SUN Direct Tv has booked for 7 Transporters (6 for DTH and 1 for Remote News Gathering) on Insat 4B.

They are using MPEG-4 technology that will allow to compress more TV channels per transponder.While MPEG-2 can pack in around 12 channels, the advanced compression technology will be able to accommodate over 20 channels.

6*20 = 120 Odd Channels

More than this DD Direct + is placed on same Insat 4B , so SUN Direct Tv is in no need to retransmit the FTA channels.

For a pan India presence Sun direct has to include popular hindi and english channels. It will be forced to settle rates with zee and star groups. Till now both dish and Tata Sky have not included sun bouquet (paid channels) in their plans. Sun tv has successfully restricted expansion of dish and tatasky in south till now by not offering its channels. In addition to sun's 20. there are about 10 other tamil channels.

Now that they are launching they will have to settle with Tata Sky - so hopefully we will also benefit by getting Sun on Tata Sky now!Well if they are launching and want Star channels on their platform they will have to settle with Tata Sky - meaning those of us with TS can hope to get Sun TV finally...what the courts could not accomplish, business reality will.

Yeah I agree there. I have a suggestion for Tata Sky. They should have a list of 10-15 channels to add every month. Then the users get to vote on which ones they want and the top 3-5 get added. Then 10 new ones next month + the losers from last month and it should keep gooing on like that.
