synced to low speeds on mtnl broadband

Rohaan, you might want to think before making foolish statements that make you sound like an idiot. I have always had the Trib256 Unlimited Plan ever since I took my connection so the low downstream is not due to changing from a 2 Mbps plan to a lower one.Why shouldn't I complain about the low speeds? If it gets resolved, well and good. If not, I don't lose anything.

Fair enough. Anyway, I've complained so let's see what the reply is. I do remember though that when I got my connection, I was told that it would be a minimum of 256 kbps upto about 1 Mbps. My modem settings were synced to 2 Mbps though so I've been getting good speed all this while. I'll give my exchange guys a call as well and see what they have to say.

So beyondinvisible did u got ur answer now, huh. Think twice before u post and make silly complaints with MTNL.:cool2:

hey guys.....
my problem sorted out........now my speed is according to my current plan (2Mbps)
Now MTNL had corrected their fault.....and when just minutes ago, i got to know i am getting fu***ng higher speed ...!!!:thumb: :cool2:

although it varies from 1.5 Mbps - 6 Mbps (yes sometimes upto 6Mbps)
but the avg b/w speed is around 2.8 Mbps.......

What was the problem? Did you get to know?

The problem was from their server/main exchange end, they did not updated my profile as they have to put my connection to a different port and different vlan .

pr.itdude which router r u using and what is ur internet plan??

hey, i am using starcom UT-200R2U, which is generally provided by mtnl here in delhi. And currently i am on 500Combo plan which gives speed upto 2 Mbps with a limit of 2.5 GB/month and 200 free calls. This is the plan here for Delhi, and i pay 500+50(for modem rent).

----------

as i guessed right, the speed in the first hour was around 2 - 4 Mbps, but now its constantly below 1.8Mbps and i am getting an avg speed of 1.75 Mbps.

My local snr margin is 40dB, remote snr margin is 12-15dB.I get less than 204KB/sec.My neighbour has the same local snr margin but his remote snr margin is 36dB.Are low remote snr margin values creating a problem for my download speed? If yes, how do i go about rectifying the issue. Can something be done?

well , too low SNR can cause that problem.. but above 10 is good enough and it shouldnt affect the sync rate
