The ninth All-India Film Employees Federation Conference began amidst much fanfare in Chennai’s Trade Centre today (October 9th, 2009). The event was marked with the Bollywood actor Rajesh Khanna being awarded the prestigious Lifetime Achievement award. This award was presented by Ulaganayagan Kamal Haasan. Earlier, Rajesh Khanna lit the traditional lamp to mark the beginning of the three-day conference and cultural fest.
The Deputy Minister of Information &Broadcasting Jagathrakshakan, director K Balachandar and a host of other technicians and actors were present at the venue during the inaugural ceremony.

The reception for the newly wed couple was held on October 25th in Chennai in which several film stars, directors and producers participated. The Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, M Karunanidhi and Union Telecom Minister, A Raja also attended the wedding reception to greet the couple.

Once in a lifetime role for Bharath

Bharath is happy over the way Kandein Kadhalai has shaped up and has his fingers crossed with the impending release of the film on October 30th. The actor says that his role in the movie is a once in a life time character and he was glad to have played it. He adds that after Kadhal, Kandein Kadhalai will be his next full length romantic flick. Bharath hopes that the film will be a turning point in his career.
Revealing little more details about the film, Bharath says that it is all about meeting Tamanna in a train journey and the love that blossoms afterwards.

The errant behavior of Govinda has reportedly taken its toll on director Mani Ratnam, so much so, that the ace director decided to do away with a scene that involved him in Ravan. Apparently, Govinda turned up late for the shooting and kept the entire cast and crew waiting for him, including Mani Ratnam, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Abhishek Bachchan.

Ajith who is busy with Asal is back shooting at the AVM studios after completing a hectic schedule abroad. The actor met up with his contemporary Vijay who is also shooting at AVM for his upcoming project Sura. The movie will be shot in fine locales in Kerala and southern Tamil Nadu.
Both the stars were shooting at the adjacent sets, when Ajith walked up to Vijay and both were seen happily conversing with each other for few minutes to the surprise of the technicians on the set who were waving at their favorite stars.
