I think you should blame the government. 512kbps was supposed to be implemented as minimum speed to be called broadband 2 years ago (or last year). It is supposed to be increased to 1mbps (or 2mbps, I do not remember correctly) by 2015. But nothing has been done to enforce this recommendation from TRAI.

oh really, here in Bangalore which is supposedly the IT capital they have ridiculous plans.
 
Well Bangalore does have ACT right? Check BSNL and Airtel plans in Hyderabad. Beam has basically forced all rival operators to offer exceptional plans in that city.

Trai came up with the National telecom policy 2012 within the end of year 2011 with the recommendation of broadband definition to be changed to 512 kbps from 1st January 2012 and 2 mbps from 1st January 2015. But the goons sitting at DOT made sure to f**k it up to benefit the private telcos whose are masters are taking care of their ministers pockets. :angry:

And I can vouch the definition wont be revised in 2015 also. The Dot has also f**ked up the National Optical Fibre project which was launched in 2012 and is still in progress with hardly 2% of projected work being completed.

And only god knows what happened to the Rural USOF which was the fund allocated to the ISP serving the rural areas especially BSNL. Haven't seen any decent or cheap plan for the rural areas from Bsnl.
 
It will take at least another 20 years for our Govt. to provide minimum 2 mbps broadband connection.....!!
 
that's the problem. government should have nothing to do with my broadband connection. what india needs is competition. competition drove mobile prices lower not government.

But i think your plan still is 256 kbps post fup. How is that legal considering 512 kbps is the minimum speed? Now pls dont tell it was not applicable to post fup speed :(
