I have just installed, Tata Indicom Broadband Connection here at Nagpur. Details as under :- Tata Broadband ID : 712 402050On Telephone : 712 6638170Name : Pramod PodharAccount Number : 604742998Tarrif Plan : Monsoon Offer Unlimited 256 Plan This Plan is for 256 kbps. But in actual it is only giving 12, 22 34 kbps only. The maximum speed I am getting is only 32 kbps only. I complained many times, but every time they tell me that their compression ratio is 1:8 and so you divide 256 by 8 and thus you are getting this speed. But is it proper ? When they are charging me for 256 kbps, then why I should get only 32 kbps speed ? I have been cheated by them.

Are you getting 32 kbps = 4 KB/s during download ? I hope you understand 256 kbps = 32 KBps . If its giving 4-8 KB/s then its worse .

Mr. Poddar can u confirm if you are getting speeds in KBps or kbps ?

Hello, I am getting 32 kbps and not 32 KB. It is only 32 kilo bits per second. Again, I clear it that I am receiving only 32 kbps.It is kbpsIt is 32 kbps only

Do ping google.com -t and let it run for sometime and see if you are also getting packet drops ( Request timed out ) .

Well if you do understand 256 kbps is 32 KB/s so that should mean while u download anything ur browser shows 8 KB/s ( right ? if you are getting max 32 KB/s then ur connections is perfect 32 KB/s = 256 kbps ) . And you are using wrong words , tell them you are getting 8 KB/s and dont say 32 kbps. Even though ISP's advertise in kbps their customer care speaks in KB/s :P .

1 KB ( kilobyte) = 8 kb ( kilobit )
