i got message, i am in Ahmedabad Gujarat.
they wrote that they are migrating some news channel to MPEG4. and i don't replace my stb, i wont be able view those news channel

Getting mine replaced now
Free - SD Mpeg4 Box with 1 month warranty
Rs.500 for SD Mpeg4 Box with 1 yr warranty
Rs. 990 or so for HD Mpeg4
Rs 4990 for HD PVR
They push big time for upgrades instead of the free box
...but again the sad part is that i didn't get any SMS / reminders etc, some of kannada channels went offline with the msg asking us to contact CC for upgrade to mpeg4

Today, I got one of my 4 year old (silver color) SD Box re-activated today (which was de-activated, lying unused) so that I can upgrade it to MPEG4 SD box for free or 990/- for HD Box.
Which news channels are not available on MPEG2 ? I can see all of them coming in my old SD box.
How can I get it upgraded to HD box @990 ?

Activate one of the South Indian language package(Kannada, Tamil, Telugu or Malayalam). After a day or so send the sms "Y" to 56633. They will call you to replace the box.

Just call them and ask for an upgrade directly, I'm sure that they'll be more than happy to assist
