Tata Sky HD DTH: Star sports HD removed ?

I think it's a common problem. I tried seeing the first few minutes of the finals yesterday, but no dice - same not part of your subscription message. Unfortunately I had something very important to do and was going to miss it anyway. So I didn't bother complaining. Now that the Wimbeldon is over, the channel has completely disappeared (which was to be expected). While watching the world cup semi finals and finals on HD is totally worth getting the box for, I wonder what Tata Sky's strategy will be after the world cup. It will suck if Nat Geo and Discovery are the only HD channels. Someone told me that the Commonwealth games will be broadcasted in HD - who cares?

As the wimbeldon gets over, STAR Sports HD has been removed. The same willbe for ESPN HD after Fifa WC.

Most Probably after the FIFA WC, Star Plus HD and Star Movies HD will be added

True these channels have been event based but this seems to be that the broadcaster themselves do not have provisions to provide full HD.

They have applied for HD broadcast to I & B dept, its still pending only

You're not the only one with this problem, Star Sports HD usually had a Splash image showing the next Wimbledon telecast, now its gone with the "Not part of your subscription package" message flashing. I'm guessing it'll start working soon enough, if not, im sending a rather stern email to TS soon

I have the exact same problem as you. Frankly I am quite disappointed with Discovery/NGC HD as well- They mostly telecast animals and some stupid 911 show and not the other really interesting stuff they broadcast abroad. Most of the video is not even shot with HD cameras. It looks clearer than SDTV but not more than DVD quality. Even Discovery Science would have been better in HD. Unless the source uses HD cameras there's just a marginal improvement.

^ the thing is that many of the programs use older (non HD) footage - so I suppose all they can do is digitally remaster it and try to upscale it.

They have applied for HD permission from I and B Dept, its still pending

i think that was TATA and Airtel

if ESPN permisiion was pending then they couldn't do it for World cup and Wimbledon

HD Content is very limited today – ESPN has HD only for FIFA and other special events, and National Geographic and Discovery have it for their shows.

Just now when I tried this channel number, I get "Channel 417 is not available" message on the top right side of screen. Does it means that Star Sports HD has gone forever for everyone?

Star Sports HD was a event based channel, plz check the above posts. If Star Sporrts gets nod from I & B for 24 hr telecast TS will add that again.

And btw last day guys ESPN HD will removed tommorrow as this is also an event based channel from all DTH ie , TS, Dish TV, SUN HD
