CHANDIGARH: DTH service operator Tata Sky today said it would add 3.5 million more subscribers by 2012 and focus on adding customer-oriented
innovative applications.

"Currently, we have 4.5 million subscribers and we are aiming to achieve total subscriber base of 8 million by 2012," company Chief Marketing Officer Vikram Mehra told reporters here.

Bullish about the growth of DTH industry in the country, Mehra said DTH subscribers in the country are expected to be in the range of 40-45 million in next three years.

Tata Sky, a joint venture between Tata Group and Star, also announced the launch of 'Active' English-- an innovative program aimed at enhancing conversational skills among Indian housewives.

"We always focus on giving maximum value to our customers by way of introducing more innovative services which are even not available globally and also having wide array of channels and programmes," he said.

Their acheievement is specific and time bound it is good to have a vision and a mission on enlarging the consumer base in a wider scope while at the same time focusing on fulfilling the advanced service DTH has to offer giving maximum value to customers.

The fact that they foresee lesser customer additions in the coming years in a growing market is testimony to the fact that their game is up. 3.5 M connections in 3 years is less compared to the 4.5 M they whipped up in the last 3 years.

Tata Sky came up with a Boom. The growth phase shows an upward trend but the rate may differ. They are the intial starters to pioneer active service. The aim is realistic and they are not confined to a limit. So the direction they are headed seems to be yielding to the CO. as well as consumers.

But how many thousands TS going to get?

To Acheive this target Tata Sky needs to work a lot to attract new customers, or else TATA SKY is going to loose it's customers alreadr two of my friends dropped TATA SKY and even i'am also planning to get rid of TATA SKY.

Yep, these guys charging high, less add-ons, no new regional channels, base packs remain same. Me too planning to move to Dish TV that I already have, but not active. At least, they provide all sports channels in base pack.

I personally feel a drop in price will bring in heavy customer attraction to the brand as of promotion, offers and channels they are coming up with good innovative and new introductions and as of customer care too the aftersale service is handled pretty well.

Well As correctly said that Tata Sky Added 4.5 million subscribers till now Since their launch in around 3 or 3.5 years and again in the further same 3 year they are planning to add 3.5 million ...that clearly shows they are declining in the growing market and not in the race any more..... Earlier they have already lost their No.2 Position and I think soon they will loose their No.3 position as well.

Tata Sky DTh is not subject to the law of DMU(diminishing marginal utility) as newer market, prospects and its scope to widen will allow the Co. to exploit is marketing capacity impeding the basic target and getting more sale above the target.
