Tatasky replaces my Set-Top box for only RS 350/-

One of my Set-Top boxes suddenly went dead due to some electrical surge or something like that.As my warranty period was over, I thought I would end up either paying for a new box or expensive repair charges.However, when i called CC, they said even though my warranty was over I only have to pay Rs 350 for a new box.In less than 24 hrs, their guy came and installed the new box. Now that's called customer care.

Some good words about Tata Sky Although I doubt if all will agree with amount of Rs 350 for replacing STB

replacing stb for just 350 surprised me which means that STB dont cost them much.

Yes, STB will not cost much as they have sold thousands of them and their manufacturing cost per STB has come down drastically

What care do you take of your STB? i have both dish and Tata Sky connections at home, been over 2 years, i never switched the STB off, its always on, only goes off when there is no power,

@dushie, r u an employee of reliance energy or any electicity company in ur city?? Or then must be filthy rich to pay electicity bill?? Dude switch it off when not in run, STB takes more electicity compared to 14" TV. So use wisely, I hope will reduce d sufferings of people who r on 2 hrs or more loadshading. Oops...mom shouting at me, I think someone kept AC in bedroom under running condition, no one else is at home, KISNE KIYA YE????

@Chinmay: The stb doesn't take much power on standby as two at my home are also on 24 hrs. They stay on standby off course when not in use

@shantam2005: How do you take care of stb? it just sits on top my my tv.

@amish: STB are not that cheap and they are charging 350 Rs for a tech's visit to a customer's place when the stb is out of warranty(as far as i know)

so u mean Tata Sky replaced STB for free even when warranty period has expired?! i think then it may be case that they forgot to check warranty period of customer and hence replaced it for free by mistake.

No mistake, CC confirmed to me that my warranty was over. Hence, i needed to pay Rs 350/- for the new Set-top Box. They din`t charge me for the installation or visit.
