Yup, but I doubt they will be able to hike it beyond say, Rs.200, as we chennaites are still more conservative in spending on stuff like movies as compared to the other major cities of the country.

That doesn't take away the fact that in the South movies still manage to do 50 days and 100 days. In Hindi, it is out of the question :D

I didn't know that Inox and Mayajaal have raised ticket prices to 150, I wonder how they managed to work around the 120 rule. The latter in particular is horrible. Inox is better than that, but whatever they lose on the ticket prices they more than make up for the outrageously priced food items. Sathyam was the only multiplex I felt bad about watching a movie at 120. LOL. They deserve 250.

I have never visited Inox, so cannot comment. Tamil movies that complete 50/100 or whatever , do so mostly in theatres where the average cost is 50-60 or max 80 only, and the fans itself make sure that it crosses that.I dont think you can find Tamil movies (with 4 shows) completing a landmark in multiplexes, mostly it will end up being 1-2 shows max if the movie is really that goodI am not sure how many are aware, but I believe still there is 1-2 rows mandatory 10 rupee tickets in theatres... someone can confirm :D

Of course the multiplex rentals are higher so the distributors too avoid continuing the film there as they get much better returns from the single screen theatres.LOL. That 10 rupee ticket thing is even more weird. Particularly when just the row behind, someone would have paid 120 for the ticket in a multiplex :D

Yes, and a typical fan will watch the movie 4-5 times paying say 50 rupees (after maybe 1-2 high priced ones), so 5 visits for 250 , still cheaper than what people in other people would pay for a single trip ;)That 10 rupee thing was to make sure the poor man is not deprived of the right to watch the movie :DIn 2003, my friends bunked college & watched Kal Ho Na Ho for Rs.4 per ticket. :DI think it was the last movie before the theatre increased it to 10 or 20 & then government soon brought 10 rupee limit for 1st 2 rows

Yes its there but i am not sure whether its available in PVR / Escape / Mayajaal...

I am already seeing certain subtle spoilers in the wiki entry , not sure how accurate they are...

Just finished reading the spoilers :glasses-cool: . So based on who wants what, I can be accordingly - :Storyteller: or :Boy Zip:

Just read Mihir Fadnavis' blog, there is a review for the dark knight...lots of praise

If Batman Begins was a surprisingly serious and smart, no BS gritty opener and The Dark Knight was an extraordinary sequel of Godfatheresque levels, then The Dark Knight Rises improves in ambition upon the latter. The whole thing is so bombastic and behemoth in scale that every minute of it continually breaks the trilogy curse. In fact the stakes in The Dark Knight Rises are high enough to make its predecessors look quaint in comparison.

The first two movies were character and technical triumphs on their own, but it is obvious that Nolan was saving all the goodies for last. The Dark Knight Rises just obliterates the bar with the gritty physical effects sprinkled with CGI. If The Dark Knight had an overturning truck, this one has a whole damn flying bat and exploding bridges. The effects are so realistic it’s impossible to make out between real and CGI, and they are seamlessly woven into the sweeping exhilaration of Wally Pfister’s cinematography. All doubts over Nolan not being a great action direction are dispelled as the quick-cutting fight scenes from Batman Begins make way for long, uncut, brightly lit brawls between Batman and Bane and even spectacular large-scale chase sequences. The big prologue involving Bane has to be seen on the largest IMAX screen to be believed.

Some say part 2 was best and part 3 still better than part 1. Anyway, it will be discussed a lot in the next few days, and a few scenes explanation debated as usual.
