MTNL (General) The fall and fall of MTNL

My Office landline is down for a month...... Earlier they were closing complaints on daily basis without doing anything. Now they are not even closing complaints..... I speak/ request to SDO on daily basis but no use......

Since Aug 08 2020 the mtnl landline is dead and no one in mtnl to respond to me on twitter. It seems end of an era. They will perish soon.

They are really lacking the resources (lineman) to do repairs. More than 90,000 employees resigned putting extreme pressure on the existing staff. That fire at Prabhadevi exchange seemed to be the breaking point(atleast for my uncle, opted for VRS) for MTNL coupled with cash crunch. With Covid and rains, matter hit further South. Even my ADSL connection is been fluctuating these days, partly due to rains, non upgrading of servers.

The condition is so poor that even MPs and MLAS are requesting government to opt for other operators. If they can't service the ministers, you already know about comman man.

On August 5 my uncle's landline was dead so he registered an online complaint. 2 days later, his landline number got exchanged. Some other person's landline number was given to him and his number just kept ringing. Till now that issue has not been solved. Nobody in customer care picks up the phone, nobody responding to online complaints...

Bsnl too has lately gone to the dogs, both landline and ftth.

My landline is down for nearly a month now, others in my area for multiple months, no response to registered complaints and ignoring Twitter and even pgportal no progress.

Ftth so far is working acceptable but don't know when it will also go for a toss.

I guess cash crunch is getting more and more severe.

I just posted yesterday and today my bsnl landline got repaired. The guy who visited my house said many staff have retired and they have appointed contractor single person for a large area and he is overwhelmed causing delays in the work.

What saddens me more is central govt(Mr. Prasad) shoving unrealistic targets for these PSU's leading to further deterioration in the services and leaving end users frustrated and hence jumping the ship.
Agreed, both of them were heavily bloated and some non- performing staff had to be removed but having more than 80% of your staff leaving will further put pressure on realising profits.
There are rumours that Reliance wanted it to debloat them as much as possible before it can takeover.

I firmly believe let there be free competition and let customers decide what is best for them. Besides behavioural change among Psu's is the need of the hour of they want to remain competitive.

Atleast for landline, perhaps if they upgrade their systems to support portability it would go a long way. Maybe they can enable porting of landline numbers to other operators or even as a VOIP account.

It was Bjapayee Govt, with Pramod Mahajan, that gave Mukesh Ambani, in Dec 2002, backdoor entry into mobile telephony through illegal use of WLL technology, so that Ambani did not have to pay high licence fees. The entry of RIM changed Indian telephone market forever.

He did the same thing again during 3G auctions. Got for BWA license for cheap , later got permission for VoLTE .

ambani wants to takeover MTNL assets & spectrum without its workforce. so
first force all workforce to go
then force all customers to leave
then close down shop and declare it sick
then sell it off to Ambani at throw away prices

I doubt he wants anything from mtnl. Neither old copper or legacy 2g/3g network.

Only wants it to close down, like he is doing with vodafone.
Where trai is saying non telco revenue cant be calculated in agr but no dot n govt wants it.
And citing reason of lack of fund for immediate payment in pandemic. In this gail n railtel are also liable to pay crores but sc is deaf for that. Jio using rcom spectrum with backdoor rules.
