I don't think I know the potential subscribers.. nor I plan to start ISP service.. I simply can not dedicate time for that.
I am looking for something that solves my problem..and willing to invest but don't know how to go about it..

Hi everyone,

I would say a super knowledge heavy thread. Got to know a lot of things.

I am a software engineer and I am also planning to provide FTTH to my village and there will be around 10 connections. I am in talks with bsnl for revenue sharing.

I am completely doing this for my village, ready to incur losses and not doing it for profit.

All the 10 houses are in a radius of 200m physically. Also I prefer quality over cost.

So what are the equipments would I require? What will be the good brand on OLT and cables?

Any help would be highly appreciated.

Yes please discuss in the thread itself.

@Thegreat splicing machine will cost around 1.5 Lac. Syrotech OLT will cost 35-40K. For cables, I have no knowledge. Other equipments are also there such as power meter tool, fiber cut location tracer etc. Think twice before going further.

Here is my detailed story.

I have a adsl connection and OK with it because there is no proper indoor mobile coverage from any of the operator.

The adsl started giving problems once the line man retired. The new lineman guy is super irresponsible and no proper response to complaints from bsnl. The exchange is out of inverter battery and so the adsl goes out whenever the power goes off.

I am travelling to the nearby city whenever I have a online client meeting.

So I was fed up and tried to get other options like starlink and airfibre but nothing went good.

Around 6 months before I tried to get franchisee but I got information from the lineman that olt should be at the exchange and they can't give connection to olt in my place. (My home is located between the main office and the exchange. So the cable is passing my house by underground.)

They are not ready to give olt from the cable passing my house.

Exchange is 3 kms away which compress of mostly agriculture land. So there is high risk of wire cuts. So I dropped the plan because it will be hard to maintain. Not worried about cable cost though.

Also I heard like the lineman guy is trying to partner with another village LCO to get bsnl franchise. But I am worried a lot about downtime because he have to cross the 3 km. And he doesn't give much importance to downtimes. I don't want to be a competition to him and remained silent but no stones turned even after 6 months.

For the past 2 months adsl is completely dead.

But few days back due to electricity pole construction the underground fiber right opposite to my house got disconnected. At that time the bsnl JTO arrived and I was having a conversation. JTO said BSNL can give connection readily because the cable is having a cut already it will be easy. And JTO came to know Lineman haven't fixed a issue voluntarily for two months.

JTO then given contact of FTTH team in bsnl and he wants me to meet in person.

So today had a meeting with bsnl official but he is speculating that fiber may not have enough capacity and he had to check with SOMEONE. Not sure if it's because of line man's influence.

The usual government thing, asked me to meet in person and nothing moved with the meeting.

So confused a bit now. Whether I should involve in franchise or not.
