I think it is better to go SFP based router with 10G or 2.5G port. This way you can be sure to utilize the maximum and have all the raw controls in your hand.
This setup will also work in future in case ISP start providing more than gig connection (Too early to say ig)
There is nothing like dedicated port of 1Gbps. If its EPON network, you are likely to share bandwidth between 64 users maximum, whereas if its GPON, you are sharing bandwidth with 128 users.
No company will giveaway one OLT port to 1Gbps customer.
@MystiqueMyth I'm getting 920+ Mbps download on the 1GBps plan. Sometimes it goes up to 950 but overall I think it's fine.
Upload speed always has been lower than advertised even on the 300 Mbps plan previously. LCO said that's the best he can do.
@thehitman47 and @WieldyBinkie which network are you on, EPON or GPON?
If it's EPON then I salute to BSNL for the bravery they have with regards to giving 1Gbps on EPON.
@thehitman47 just out of curosity bsnl 1gbps plan is available in bangalore ? your location says bangalore . Also What is the cost if you are from bangalore and how to apply ?
Purely out of curiosity, How does a 1Gbps plan help/improve internet connectivity, especially for personal use?
If it is for business, 1Gbps could help. Does it matter for personal use?
