Just an FYI to all, TP-Link xx530v router works perfectly fine with Jio Fiber and that Mac cloning bug won't affect us here as Jio Fiber uses Dynamic IP and not PPPOE. This Mac clone bug affects only PPPOE connections.

@tr1k0N4 I haven't set up my system yet, but I'm looking for an all-in-one PON solution that will currently work with my Jio Fibre and be compatible with future fiber broadband. I've read a forum post here: XX530v is capped at 50Mb download in a 500Mb plan - Home Network Community, and there's also a relevant case study available at TP-Link XX530v Speed Throttling Investigation: PPPoE and WAN MAC Cloning Issues (Questionable Site), but it's there.


@Mota Bhai, thanks for confirming. Doesn't Airtel use a PPPoE connection?

@LuGaRia I have also used xx530v with Airtel Fiber in the past, and there also you won't find this mac clone bug as Airtel uses PPPOE but you don't need to clone your mac id there.

xx530v will cause issue with only those broadband providers which uses PPPOE plus you need to clone your mac to set it up.

Brdrs, while this bug doesn't rear its head when using XX530v with Airtel Xstream fiber, the LAN ports issue is the one you should be worried about when trying to replace Airtel's ONT.
In this issue, due to configuration done in the new ALCL OLTs, all the LAN ports in XX530v stop working and you can access Internet only through WiFi.

And brdr @LuGaRia, you can use XX530v with Jio as no issues have been reported so far with Jio. Your landline won't work, that's the only issue.

Happy to report that the MAC Clone bug has been fixed with the latest 0.9.0 beta firmware for XX530v v1.

Does a land line telephone (beetel) show caller's number when connected to TP-Link xx530v??

It didn't in previous firmwares, will have to ask someone to check if it works in the beta firmware.
