Hi. I'm creating this thread to discuss about this particular model from TP-Link (because I have it) and solve issues that I or other users may have been facing.

So I will begin the discussion with an issue that I am facing.

The issue is that the IPv6 address/internet keeps vanishing/disconnecting from wireless clients after like 30 seconds or so. I can get the ipv6 again by reconnecting to the wifi but the story repeats.

I've tried various combination of WAN IPv6, LAN DHCPv6 and Prefix Delegation configuration but the issue persists. Rather I don't even get any IPv6 address in certain combinations.

I know that the issue is widespread across various Tp link routers but if any of of managed to somehow fix the issue, your inputs will be very much appreciated.

WAN renewal and IPv6 issues are long standing in Archer series.

I had reported the same in another thread.

By digging in their forums I found that they use some weird algo which measures DNS latencies to test if you have working internet connection.
So some issues such as disconnection and WAN renewal can be solved by using fastest DNS available.

For IPv6 you are on mercy of TP-Link devs to implement a properly working IPv6 stack.

I haven't faced any other issue apart from IPv6 in wifi devices. It works fine via ethernet but for some reason it just doesn't work in wifi connected devices. I've also recently wrote to their service team but don't really expect anything. The fact that a router with a price tag of above 4000 can't even do IPv6 properly is really mind blowing.

By wifi devices or wifi clients I meant any device that is connected to the router via wifi. Smartphones, laptops, etc.

On the other hand IPv6 works perfectly fine on my PC that is connected via ethernet cable to the router.

Also I noticed another issue which is what @x86_64 was probably talking about. Internet randomly disconnects and reconnects if I use ad filtering dns like Control D. Only works fine if I use non filtering dns like 1111 or 9999.

Really shitty router to say the least. Even my isp router better lol.

I have this router, not particularly enamored with it but serves the purpose. Perhaps I will bridge this and use my Orbi, sooner rather than later.

I believe I kinda fixed the DNS internet disconnection issue by change the MTU in the WAN (XPON) settings from default 1480 to something lower like 1408. Now I'm able to use ControlD DNS without disconnections. It may break other things tho so do your own testing.

That's nice to know! What did the changed MTU break for you?

Also, @Sureshhh how are you using ControlD? When I set the DNS in router settings, it simply doesn't work. On my Orbi, setting DNS in router used to work. However, that was Airtel and Orbi. This is Alliance Broadband and TP-Link. Setting DNS in TP-Link router somehow is not working. I am not sure if ISP has anything to do with it, but I suspect, due to much deeper nuisances with Alliance than there ever were with Airtel.
