31. Differential tariffs being offered for data transmitted over closed electronic
communications networks, such as intranets are not prohibited by these
regulations. Though the prohibition on discriminatory pricing of data services
does not apply to such networks, which are not accessing the internet, if such
a closed network is used for the purpose of evading these regulations, the
prohibition will nonetheless apply.

As I expected idea just slashed offering of Data packs, Rs 249 now offers 2GB earlier it had 3GB :banghead::banghead:

Of course this is bad news for people who want service specific packages (WhatsApp/Facebook etc.) but looking at the bigger picture, this was the right thing to do to ensure that bigger corporations like Facebook does not end up monopolizing internet services for a larger segment of the public.

I only hope there is no fine print and loopholes which can be blatantly exploited later on by these companies. Already there are some doubts expressed of this on tv news channels

We've to appreciate how TRAI handled this. It was a very mature and professional. They didn't get swayed by all the emotional stuff from FB about the "poor Indian villager" nor did the fall for the fear mongering from the Telcos. All-in-all a good decision.
