UIDAI: Warning against printing of plastic Aadhaar cards

Both websites have exact same wording in their faq to this question. Well almost.

The sites do not seem to have any kind of permission from Government to "collect and print" Aadhar card.

This may mean that they are doing illegal work?

Just like what I said earlier.

UIDAI warns people about using websites which print Aadhar card and declares it illegal

UIDAI cautions people against Aadhaar 'smart card' – Tech2

... unauthorised printing of Aadhaar card or aiding such persons in any manner may amount to a criminal offence punishable with imprisonment under the Indian Penal Code and also Chapter VI of The Aadhaar Act, 2016

Also they made following absolutely clear:

“The Aadhaar card or the downloaded Aadhaar card printed on ordinary paper is perfectly valid for all uses. If a person has a paper Aadhaar card, there is absolutely no need to get his or her Aadhaar card laminated or obtain a plastic Aadhaar card

Now this is strange - it says even black and white Aadhar card is as valid as color!!

But Vodafone had asked me to take color printout!! For which I had to pay 15Rs due to emergency.

The print-out of the downloaded Aadhaar, even in black and white form, is as valid as the original Aadhaar letter sent by UIDAI
