Unable to browse some sites on mtnl broadband

FolksHave been following this thread and want to share a solution. While I tried everything suggested including changing DNS servers it didnt work for me - I changed to the Google DNS settings and while nslookup worked, hotmail and yahoo mail would just not load for me. I found that I need to login to the modem and set the mtu to 1492 and then everything worked like a charm. Hope this is useful for people who like me have struggled for days on end without any help from MTNL. CheersSid

Sorry to hear that you had to struggle to get this solved. And I am not trying to be funny/sarcastic, If you had done a search on this forum you would have found the solution as we have discussed this point here.

Yup same here dude, I am not able to access websites wheather it is gmail,facebook or whatever.But i am getting a full speed on my torrent client. it is strange.I think there is some server problem with MTNL.May be they will sort it out.
 
1. Try these DNS values8.8.8.8, 208.67.222.2222. Try Opera Turbo3. Clear browser cache and try4. Check using another browser.5. Use a proxy and check.
 
Thanks for the Help, But this is not working bro.i have tried your DNS, MTNL DNS,OPEN DNS with different browsers like firefox, chrome,opera,netscape,IE. I don't know if you guys are facing the same problem as i do, but two of my friends who live near to my home facing the same problem from last night.Very Strange, you can download using torrent but you can't access sites.
 
Did you tried a proxy ? Also Opera Turbo ? What was the result ?
 
Yeah i have tried opera turbo with proxy and without proxy, but none of this trick worked.One thing Worked which is Ultra surf.Now i am able to surf without pause..Thanks Buddy
 
just called up 1504 and they told me some problem in services :( . Same here from last night unable to access websites. XFire not working. BTW whats your Exchange (2533xxxx)
