Yes mate ...60KB/s was the actual speed ...when checking on the speedtest website of airtel --it used to be 1Mb/s. Till that was fine. Now i m getting 6KB/s ...which is hopeless if u need to upload. My residence is gurgaon ....any suggestions for changing ISP if i need to ?

well you can go for one of their cheaper newer plans. with terrible FUPs. if you can live with them. the 3000 rupee 2mbps plan is pretty old and if you are not getting more than 60KBps at anytime, you are already paying them a lot for something that you are not getting. alternatives in gurgaon? not many. you can go for reliance. they have cheaper plans with no FUP i believe. but reliability is a possible problem. BSNL is another option but again not very reliable.

I will check out reliance...but my question is still unanswered ..do u think they can cap the upload speed..is there any FUP's for upload ?

hard question to answer. first of all your plan is very old. it does not exist any longer. i do not remember the exact specifications. but i think your original plan was 2mbps unlimited without any FUP for Rs. 3000.

long time ago, airtel applied a FUP of 100GB on all their plans. some users got it on their unlimited plans. others did not i assume.

and a while ago, all the pure unlimited plans disappeared. there are no plans with high speeds with no FUP. from what i see, you should be getting around 220KBps all the time. at least up to 100GB of data transfer. and then it should fall down to 120KBps for the rest of the month.

you say, you get a maximum of 60KBps. that can only mean one thing, you plan has been changed in the backend to one of the newer stupid plans and you have a terrible FUP. even at 256kbps i believe you should still get a minimum of 32KBps all the time in the month.

call them up ask them what plan you have and what FUP is applicable on it.

since you have only mentioned about the upload speeds...

2mbps plan should have a minimum upload speed of 120KBps. and even after FUP is applied, it should be more than 32KBps.

You have got everything spot on excepting one thing...My download speed is perfectly fine ... 2Mbps = 256KB/s which goes down after 100Gb ..As per the upload issue.. i have requested an engg to pay a visit at my residence tmmrw..lets see if he can do a refresh from the backend ...if not ..i would definately need to change the plan or even the ISP ...

ah right. if your download speeds are fine, it makes sense to complain and let them look into it. might be a misconfigured server setting.

Thanks mate for the help ..it was working fine till yesterday evening ..which is why i think they have capped it :(
Below is the screenshot of what i m talking about !!

personally i have never heard about airtel capping upload speeds. looking at your screenshot, i assume you use FTP. are FTP uploads to a decent web server also capped?

Yes i use FTP ...but i don't see a reason why the filehosts would cap an upload. And the screenshot confirms the fact that issue is with the ISP...i just hope this gets resolved by tmmrw ..else they are in for a big big hearing from me ...Also quick question -> in your knowledge..could it be the modem issues ?

the thing i am saying is that speed tests are unreliable. you need to test out with various services before you can really say that your uploads are capped. try uploading on a server that you know supports 100-200KBps uploads. though, since your upload speed is shown very low on the airtel's own speedtest service, you have a solid case to complain.
