Has anyone else noticed this? When I download at about 30kB, the upload speed comes down to 1kB or so. Also in the last few days the connection is dropping like crazy specially during NU. During the day it seems to be OK but I don't use it much then.Edit: The up speed seems to max at 2kB and down is 11kB, what is going on?

You are choking the upstream bandwidth. You need reserve a little downstream bandwidth for "communication". Only then the upstream bandwidth will be used ;)

Thats what I thought initially. When the d/l went to 11K and the up was 2K, what then?Dialup broadband? :D

It's happening again, 02:23Am and 3KB up. During the day it's steady at 7K+.Don't say they are capping the NU quietly.

Just want to check my connection out. What are the standards for U/L and D/L in ADSL?

its 1:4 u/don a good connection u might get 32kBps of download but a mere 8KBps of upload.. because of this adsl technology my freinds superwebcam on yahoo doesnt work.. it used to work fine when he was on DIAS though it was 128kbps connection

Greetings to all.(1) I wanted BSNL DataOne for basically uploading stuff. I am going to choose either 512 kbps home (Rs1800) or 1 mpbs (Rs3300). Can someone please tell me the exact file uploading speeds which I will get for 512kbps and 1 mbps so that I can decide? I don't mean the upload connection speed. I know that for 512 kbps the upload connection speed is around 128 kbps and for 1 mbps it is around 256 kbps. I mean that if I upload a file to a server how much steady uploading speed will I get for that file? As per the forum posts, for 256 kbps connection it is 6-8 kbps. So what is it for the 512 kbps and 1 mbps connections?(2) Does BSNL DataOne show us total unbilled monthly usage up to date so that we can restrict ourselves for crossing the upload/download limit? Does DataOne have a login for customers to check this on it's website?(3) Is there any other modems which give better speed with DataOne then the BSNL supplied modems?(4) What about the BSNL Type IV Wireless modem which costs Rs.2000? Does it really work? Do I require some Wi-Fi card on my computer to access the internet from this modem? If yes, what is the specs for that Wi-Fi card? Also does this wireless modem reduce the speed of the DataOne broadband as compared to normal modem which goes into the ethernet card?(5) Connecting to ethernet card gives better speeds or connecting to usb port?(6) How serious are the overbilling problems of charging us for more bandwidth than we have actually used? Do many DataOne customers experience it?Thankyou in advance for any help.

1) Ur speeds r correct. But it totally depends on the site tat u r uploading to.

2) Dont worry. V hv everything in dataone. And there r 3 party tools to check the usage. Browse thru some threads in this section and u can get them.

3) U can get modems on ur own from market in ur area. I dont think theres any +/- in having different modems.

4) Am sorry.
5) -do-

6) Many hv experienced excess billing during the initial periods. Its not tat much now. But some over-use without knowledge and complain of xcess billing.
Still 10% of the problems r from the bsnl side. u can always get tat error rectified. My friend's usage was reported as 10GB against 0.5 GB. It was above theoritical limits as against a max of 120MB in 1hr. Such things can always b removed. But u got to hav LOT OF PATIENCE !!! :P

Thankyou in advance for any help.[/b]
Dont mention it . All r here for tat purpose.
