I just want root access to my S2, I dont want to use other ROM right now. Is it possible? If yes then how? I just want to disable some boot apps, enable avast firewall and install good backup software(which as I know require root access)

Some other queries are:

[*]
[*]Where can I download pure ICS ROM which I can load in?
[*]where can I download stock ICS ROM for S2(India)(in case I want to rollback(unroot) I may require this ROM)?
[*]
[/list]
@Jaymin: As you own S2 and I guess its rooted, so I need your kind advise specially about the pros/cons of rooting.

More queries will come... :)

can u please tell me what are the best roms in terms of battery backup and overall performance...............i am 2 years old in android and still a noob in roms:Flush:

You should get good battery backup with Cyanogenmod 7.2. I think you should try Cyanogenmod 9 first, check how's the performance and battery life, if you are not satisfied, you can switch to CM7.2

what about all my images and videos and all files after factory reset it will all be gone na?????

All those files are in your SDCard and SDCard is not touched while doing factory reset (only .android_secure folder is cleared in SDCard). Do factory reset using CWM.

where can i get reviews of the roms u posted man..............i am being a headache for u:hopelessness:

You can fine some videos on Youtube, try searching 'Cyanogenmod 7 Galaxy S review'. Cyanogenmod 7 is the best aftermarket firmware available out there. And moreover, getting official Cyanogenmod 7 guarantees that the ROM is very stable. The link I gave is for stable builds, there are nightly builds too in which they keep experimenting new features which results in minor bugs.

@TooCool When I was using Galaxy S, I found Cyanogen Mode not that stable, although its fast.

I used Darky's ROM the most, its very stable

You should not have much problem installing it.

BTW once you install a custom ROM, you keep on experimenting with new ROMs :)

Ok! If toocool bro's problem has been solved, then can I have my thread back! Thank You! :haha:So @androidfreak: 1) Download Odin2) Download Original Firmware from sam.mobile3) Root and Install New ROM.Is this steps are correct? What If I want to continue with my current stock ROM but want root access? And What if I want to unroot to claim warranty, how to do that? Please elaborate more on this.
