I just want root access to my S2, I dont want to use other ROM right now. Is it possible? If yes then how? I just want to disable some boot apps,enable avast firewall and install good backup software(which as I know require root access)

Some other queries are:

[*]
[*]Where can I download pure ICS ROM which I can load in?
[*]where can I download stock ICS ROM for S2(India)(in case I want to rollback(unroot) I may require this ROM)?
[*]
[/list]
@Jaymin: As you own S2 and I guess its rooted, so I need your kind advise specially about the pros/cons of rooting.

More queries will come... :)

Ok, one last question, After only rooting will I be able to update to JB via kies?

Kies upgrades your phone to firmware officially released by Samsung. There's no need to root if you upgrade via Kies. In fact you will most probably loose your root and you will have to root your phone again.

@iCon......

Surprised to see that you are not fed up of Stock ROM! Anyone using it for a few months is bound to be fed up!

Being a newbie in android I dont want practical too much in warranty period, once it is over, my phone will become my android lab. :D

Hahaha! I was of the same opinion, until i bricked my phone, while trying to obtain the official ICS update via Kies! Since then, i dumped this idea of warranty period & all.

the log in my dialpad is so ****ed up that it always dials wrong number if i chose a previous dialled number from dial pad log.................the actual log works fine . i have darkyrom 11 black edition.@moindear did u have this issue too???

Nope. The forum at DarkyRom is very active, you can post it their to get it resolved...6 months back my cousin took my SGS, since then I am using the Tab. The last Darky ROM I used was 10.2 RE
