I just want root access to my S2, I dont want to use other ROM right now. Is it possible? If yes then how? I just want to disable some boot apps, enable avast firewall and install good backup software(which as I know require root access)

Some other queries are:

[*]
[*]Where can I download pure ICS ROM which I can load in?
[*]where can I download stock ICS ROM for S2(India)(in case I want to rollback(unroot) I may require this ROM)?
[*]
[/list]
@Jaymin: As you own S2 and I guess its rooted, so I need your kind advise specially about the pros/cons of rooting.

More queries will come... :)

got it solved there.............:Dbut there are numerous other problems with other users as well , i am keeping fingers crossed.btw please also guide me to go to stock rom, incase something bad happens, i want to be prepared

Best way is to get the stock rom from Sam Mobile, flash it, recover all your apps using Titanium Backup and then take a Nandroid backup

I used to have 3 Nandorid backups with me, CyanogenMod ROM, Darky ROM & Stock ROM.

Anything happens, just go to recovery mode and flash the ROM you need.

If possible, buy Titanium Backup app. Its the best app to restore the apps. the free version is very basic, premium version is the best!

Whenever you get bored, just keep flashing any new Custom ROM available, as long as you have nandroid backups, you are safe :)

I have played around trying different ROMs for getting JB......2 ROMs of JB, and getting back to Pure ICS.....u can imagine the number of flashes i done!

i dont have any backup of stock android as far as i remember , and i did nt find any reasonable method to "get back to stock rom from darkys rom 11 black edition" .........please help me find as i am also doing so, i want to be future prepared now as i have seen issues in darkys rom ..............:biggrin:i have got the stock rom already btw, but no pit and csc files

This might help. But before this, do not forget to take the Nandroid backup of the present ROM you havehttps://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=DCgqR-OXiuE#!

got another 1 video which says i should be going with pit. tar and modem files because i am downgrading, its safe this way.............but yes this video is also useful, will look into it.too bad no stable jelly bean is out for i9000 yet:miserable:

@Moinder is it possible to take nandroid backup without rooting, because when i rebooted by pressing Home+Power i didn't see the option of backup/restore..then i booted by pressing volume up+home+power, no backup option found, then i booted by vol down+home+power its shows 2 option with warning installing custom rom can be dangerous and cancel.

i think u have to install kernel which is rooted only then cwm can be installed to take nandroid backup
