@chromaniac Perhaps you are used to Patanjali / other ghee?. I have been using home made ghee from I was a kid. Can differentiate between home made, Amul, Patanjali and Nandini ghee. Those doesn't taste and smell good for us. We use few kgs per month, maybe that's the reason . I think I qualify for ghee connoisseur title .

i know that ghee was consumed in large quantity when my dad was growing up in his village. they literally used to eat food with glass or katori full of ghee... but nowadays? folks at home would faint if they see a thin layer of ghee floating at the top of their daal. i personally love to have butter or ghee in my daal.
