Vi Postpaid: Limitless Data is Truly Unlimited?

ported my primary number and my brother's to vi postpaid (reluctantly, ugh) because the house i shifted into has terrible jio connectivity. every call would partial-mute, couldn't hear the other person or they couldn't hear me, and eventually drop. vowifi wasn't reliable for calls either, and data never crossed 2mbps in my room. it was bad bad. so despite how much i hate vi, i had to switch.

my work number's on airtel and i didn't want two airtel sims. airtel's average anyway, but vi at this location is blazing fast: 130-140mbps indoors, though upload's only 5-6mbps. still way better than jio's 2mbps down and 0.02mbps up. call quality is crystal clear too and no call drops.

my question: with limitless, do i get truly unlimited 4g and 5g data, or is it capped?

Is it on 5G too or 4G only? 5g is unlimited? I just need more data for hi-res loseless streaming which is 60-150Mb per song. But again to exhuast the same I'll need to listen 3-6 hours on mobile network. For me 300gb seems plenty. Not gonna watch any OTT or download large files too. Just social media and loseless music streaming...

There was some confusion with 4G and 5G FUP during early days of Vi 5G rollout where some users were saying they are getting 300GB separately on 4G and 5G. but Vi seems to have changed that by adding both in a single 300GB FUP

i think 300gb should be fine for your use case @jehunix

@_rajat so just hit one week on vi and i'm pretty pleased ngl. network's improved a lot. it's fast, call quality is miles better (than jio) (both on vowifi and volte) and indoor coverage is really good esp in deccan gymkhana / erandwane where jio has pretty low coverage.

got a damn good connection in wakad, tathawade, pimple saudagar, nigdi areas too. dehu road onwards there's no 5g but you'll get 5g everywhere within pmc and pcmc limits otherwise. lavle, ambe valley was 4g and bopkhel too but i rarely travel those parts. but in premium/central, well-connected pune and pcmc areas it was solid.

experience was good in pune & mumbai metro too. pune metro underground stretch jio still doesn't work (but airtel and vi does). worked great on aqua line (4g only but way better than jio where there's literally no connectivity). in and around pune you won't have any network issues tbvh - idk if it's less user density or good spectrum/towers they have but connectivity's pretty stable here.

i'm mostly in shivajinagar / deccan gymkhana / kp area and got good speeds inside and out, was hitting 300mbps+ at most outdoor locations too.

cons of vi: they charge for every damn thing that other operators give for free - caller tune, missed call alerts, IR activation. if that stuff matters to you, or you just don't wanna pay extra for things that should be free, then vi isn't for you ig.

honestly i hate all of the above. i'm only on vi rn because jio - even as a postpaid customer paying ₹500/month - had every call disconnecting, failing or going into partial mute everywhere in my new house after i moved in. complained like 10 times and they did nothing. vi works best in my house (and to their credit it's stable across all of pune), so i've got no option but to cough up their bullshit charges for stuff that's supposed to be free...

@Kyle Crane worked great on aqua line! calls were smooth and I was getting 30-50Mbps of 4G data which is plenty for me underground :) and much better than zero signal...

i have heard from few people few months back it is not capped at 300gb and works fully unlimited , BUT still you need to check it on your own ,
Also , i have ported out my number from airtel to Jio , because in airtel there was so much interconnect issues with calling to premium number was chargeable
