Vi Postpaid: Limitless Data is Truly Unlimited?

ported my primary number and my brother's to vi postpaid (reluctantly, ugh) because the house i shifted into has terrible jio connectivity. every call would partial-mute, couldn't hear the other person or they couldn't hear me, and eventually drop. vowifi wasn't reliable for calls either, and data never crossed 2mbps in my room. it was bad bad. so despite how much i hate vi, i had to switch.

my work number's on airtel and i didn't want two airtel sims. airtel's average anyway, but vi at this location is blazing fast: 130-140mbps indoors, though upload's only 5-6mbps. still way better than jio's 2mbps down and 0.02mbps up. call quality is crystal clear too and no call drops.

my question: with limitless, do i get truly unlimited 4g and 5g data, or is it capped?

my respect for airtel has gone up a lot after my 10-month jio experiment tbvh!! i get unlimited 5g and 4g now on the ₹299 corporate plan and the network's generally stable everywhere. also no point of a 1gbps speedtest if your call's gonna suck - partial mute, failing, or network being wonky across places. the only reason i went with vi for my personal number is i don't wanna keep all eggs in one basket since i already have my work airtel number. really wish there was more competition.

300Gb seems plenty tbvh! I've only used like 10gb in 7 days!! So worst case I'll use 50-60 or at max 100Gb!

My parents have Jio sim and they get 3500 coverage even inside home

So i guess im lucky on that front

Reason why i avoided Jio all these years was.

It would suddenly stop working in busy areas like railway stations or airports and thats quite anxiety inducing for me

yes thats huge problem still. i've got no connectivity at locations like protest sites, stadiums and all. it chokes very badly in crowded areas. thank god i had airtel postpaid as backup...

otherwise there has been times where one message also would get stuck at sending status only....

@jehunix bro thanks a lot for the insights and detailed review. Really appreciate that. Gonna get Vi sim on a trial basis for now before making a complete switch.
For Airtel I'd say my experience is not that great in terms of call quality, both indoor and outdoor. Internet is also patchy at best.
So acc to you is Vi better overall compared to Airtel? I am not a jio user, never have been. Tried them for a month and it sucked hard.

@_rajat i do think airtel is the best operator in india overall - tech, infra, prices, connectivity and stability. i hate their fiber offerings but for mobile i've had the most dependable experience with them. calling's quite stable for me both indoors and outdoors.

i've got 1000+ m2m iot sims deployed and hardly faced any problems. that's also the sim that worked everywhere for me - arunachal to andaman to ladakh and remote places.

that said, vi is better in most locations across pune and pcmc for data and calls as per my experience and the places i've been!! in rural areas of non-priority circles like himachal or odisha it sucks hard though. so if you're gonna be mostly in pune, mumbai, blr or tier 1 and 2 cities, vi's been damn good - esp in the mh & goa circle.
