I thing i am forgetting to ask everytime - I have noticed many people covering their LNB with some mug like thing. Whats the reason for that?

Hai Guys! its not the right place to ask but i want too ask...I want to connect my New Philips 5.1 Home Theatre to my TV, but my ht required input like FR, FL, SL, SR, C, Woofer... these outputs available in my DVD Player but not in my TV.... how can connect my HT to experience this HD 5.1 Sounds....@IM is your DVR having this options?

I have spoken to the Area Manager and asked him in your STB there is no option to take output for my HT, he said he will send a technician to see my HT and suggest a cable for that... he also said that i cannot 5.1 mixing but get a decent stereo... He also uses like that only... he also confirmed that in DVR also we cant connect to HT.... only DVD Player has that option itseems...

The 5.1 that pkarthik24 has is the old technology. That had FR, FL etc connections. The new technology is to have digital audio output. The new HT systems process the digital output from DVD player/TV/STB and convert it into 5.1 output. I have read that there are some converters available(not seen in India) which take the digital input and convert to 5.1 output. But not sure about their quality.Bottomline - you have a old 5.1 system and need to get a new one which has either HDMI input or digital input.

@ pkarthik......

Can u just post a screenshot of the rear of ur 5.1 speakers?

Coz AFAIK, the FR, FL, & all u mentioned, are meant for connecting the woofer to the satellites? I too have similar sort of thing. But thats still "Audio Out" into ur speakers. And so there shud be something for "Taking audio in". And that can be ur Coaxial, or ur 2 channel analog in......

----------

I assume u know what is meant by the acronyms FL, FR, etc. though!
